Asparagus with wasabi mayonnaise is a really nice, simple summer appetiser.
It contains so few ingredients – and is so straightforward to make – that it’s more of an idea than an actual recipe.
Asparagus with wasabi mayonnaise
- 1 large bunch thin (or sprue) asparagus
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- a dollop of wasabi – fresh, paste or powder
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- a pinch of sugar
- Steam the asparagus until just tender. Run under cold water, pat dry and chill until needed.
- In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, wasabi, soy sauce and sugar. Adjust the balance of ingredients to suit your taste.
- Arrange the asparagus spears on a plate, and serve with the mayonnaise on the side for dipping.
No family score Andrea???
Not this time… I only do the scoring in the footie competitions as a way of choosing an eventual winner. Kind of wish I’d done it all along, though tastes are changing as they grow older. They liked pretty much everything this World Cup (were much harsher critics the first time)…
